HOT TOWN , SUMMER IN THE CITY

Hello my fellow summer fun seekers. ( Say that 3 times fast).   Are you looking to hang out at a

beach concert with 100,000 of your closest friends? No , you are not , but  the good news is

neither am I. But  what I don’t mind doing is sipping some ice cold beer , munching on crispy fried clams with waffle fries while watching the boats go by. But where to go? I am glad you asked. BTW now I am not guaranteeing that you can actually park there ( and having a fistfight over the last parking space  could  kill your  buzz) so it might be expedient to finally use that outdated UBER app that your friends grandson installed on your phone four years ago .Yes, the APP is  black  and no, you can't share the cost of  the ride with 14 other people  cheapskate). So for what it’s worth  (or not , you decide ) here is my list of ,Water, Water Everywhere , the Shoreist of the Shore :

Watermark Asbury, (800 Ocean Ave, Asbury Park) Roof Deck Heaven. Have a Mojito or Moscow Mule.

Klein's Fish Market (708 River Road , Belmar) . Order summer on a plate,  Fried clams , Fries and sweet Coleslaw.

Mr. C’s Beach Bistro ( Ocean Place and Allen Ave, Allenhurst)  Terrific Tuna Nachos  try my fav

Mid Summer Cocktail with Blueberries and Lemonade.

Second Jetty ( 140 Ocean Ave Sea Bright)  cool surfing vibe Mon , try the Happy Lobster (bring

your wallet) or the great  Island Flavored Caribbean Plate.

The Proving Grounds (56 Shrewsbury Ave , Highlands) Neat  Tiki Bar  great  for snacks and chilling.

McLoone's Rum Runner ( 816 Ocean Ave Sea Bright) , beautiful spot with a river view , great for

drinks and a snack.

The  Shrimp Box ( 75 Inlet Dr Point Pleasant ) , reasonable prices, old time vibe  great for grandma, but if you are grandma, you could just go there.

Seafarer Bar ( 1 Atlantic St , Highlands), think picnic tables, food trucks and live music at the pier.

Almost on the water ( So near and yet so far)

Sea Grass Restaurant (68 Main St Ocean Grove), try my best sandwich of the year, the mighty

Lobster BLT on Brioche ( lunch only) , heavy on the lobster, light on the mayo.

The Mix Lounge And Food Bar (71 Brighton Ave , Long Branch ) my Value Leader,  try the Berry

Of course for the big spenders or for those trying to impress out of towners

( you know who u are) may I suggest the following:

Charlie’s  Of Bayhead (72 Bridge Ave Bayhead) , mega great .  You can take me there for my

Birthday, it's in September , I’ll wait.

Beach Tavern ( 33 West St Monmouth Beach) humongous shrimp  and beautiful decor.

Drift House ( 1485 Ocean Ave , Sea Bright) Cleb food alla David Burke .

Now one way to not let summer pass you by is to take a 6 hour (ish)

road trip to the fantastic  little oceanside town of  Ogunquit Maine and check in at he fabulous

Colonial Inn (145 Shore Rd , Ogunquit, Me ) .Take a stroll along “ The Marginal Way” a fully paved seaside cliff walk ( 1 mile) stretching  along the stony  oceans edge terminating in super scenic Perkins Cove . Grab a hot buttered  Lobsta Roll for lunch at the famous Barnacle Billy’s ( 50 Perkin Cove Rd , Ogunquit, Me)  Walk Along the pristine Beaches and out to where the tidal pools have formed for miles. Sing show tunes along with the local talent at the fabulous Front Porch Piano Bar ( 9 Shore Rd ,, Ogunquit. Me)  in town. Hit some of the great shops and greater food and return to the Colonial’s  huge porch and grab a rocking chair. What do you know,  you are just in time for the freshly baked cookies. Now After a refreshing 8 hour nap , you may like to walk  down to  The Blue Bistro at The Beachmere Inn ( 62 Beachmere Pl , Ogunquit, Me) for one of the best breakfasts you will ever have, no kidding.  BTW If you can drag yourself away from the beach, head a few miles to Kennebunk  and check out ( just to say you were there)The Clam Shack ( 2 Western Ave, Kennebunk, Me) , arguably the number one rated lobster roll  in all of the US of A . BTW  while you are in the area, cruise by the palatial Bush Estate, (Walker’s Point , Kennebunkport , Me) is something to see.

So get your summer on  folks. Be daring or don’t . I will be back before you know it with some  other nonsense, hopefully a little better.   So live well my friends , make the neighbors jealous .Harry Out.
