BETWIXT AND BETWEEN

 ( IF IT ITCHES, THEN) 



Hello my Besties and welcome to that in between time year when we are all waiting  for that big yellow ball to return to the sky, for the lilies  to bloom, for  the Robin Red Breasts to make their appearance and for the Umpires ( if they are not electronic) to yell “Play Ball”. Yes my friends it is that “Almost Time” of the year when you can feel it trying to be spring. Soon you will be able to watch the commotion at the garden stores as they scramble to double their prices of anything green , knowing full well that you will be buying them twice, once far too soon watching them freeze overnight and later when it is actually warm. And so my friends, where should you go while you're waiting for the snowbirds to return to Capistrano? Glad you asked. I for one would hightail it over to one of my favorite local haunts, the consistently excellent , always  satisfying rustic Italian Skratch Kitchen (812 Main St Bradley Beach). Here the chef and owner  JT Dunn along with his partners Rob Kash and Joe Masco ( Part of The Great Restaurants Group) serve up some of the best locally sourced coastal comfort food around. The Chicken Savoy in Balsamic Glaze is rich and delicious as are the handmade Gnudi Ricotta Dumplings and the excellent 14 OZ Bistro Filet with Expresso Cabernet Demi Glace. The most intangible ingredient added to the menu though, is the big dose of care that is given to each and every dish that arrives at your table. It is almost like Sunday Supper at your Nonna’s with her cooking up some of your favorite dishes. Now the quality of the fare at Scratch has not gone unnoticed with a recent visit last month  by well known TV personality , Celebrity Chef and Fellow Foodie,  Guy Fieri.

This tells you that there is something kinda special being served up in good old Bradley Beach, as Guy says , “Right Here And Right Now””.  So let's sum it up : Ambiance, Yep, Warm and Welcoming , in Spades, Pro Wait Staff : You Bettcha , Enjoyable ; Absolutely. Scratch Kitchen  Food Rating 92%.  So my friends , if you have an itch to go, well you know.
