BAD ADVICE

Ya know, ever  since I  have been doing this column, I always try my best  to give my readers  good advice. I owe it to  you all , because you have taken time  out of your life to read this . Thanks, by the way . Then I was thinking , “What would be the  worst advice that anyone has ever given you ?” Now there are many contenders for the worst words to live by but a  few come to mind  right off the bat. How about “What you don’t know won’t hurt you”. Now this is a good one , since it is my observation that most of the things  we worry about don’t seem to  happen at all, instead it's that unforeseen something  coming  out of left field that seems  to  kick your arse Six ways to Sunday.  Not far behind are these words of wisdom ,   “What harm can it do?”, since   it is my contention that as humans on this planet we generally have no freaking idea of the ripples we are creating until it threatens to drown us. How about “Just be yourself”. Now this could be good advice but it would  probably be bad advice in about double the amount  of cases. Or not ( judgement call) .Now I am not saying you shouldn’t be yourself, but as we all kind of know ,  there are several versions of you that are more should we say more agreeable than others. I believe that  the “professional you”  would be best, don’t you think?   It  would be just like you only better,  the newest improved version but  a lot neater. I have also always liked  “Good things come to those who wait”. As I always say,  that is just what we all need , a better plan for procrastination. Matter of fact, how about we wait  until  it is virtually impossible to do anything about it at all.  Another contender has to be “Fake it till you make it”. Lets all feign knowledge about something and hide what we don’t know. Why take up valuable time  to actually learn anything? It is much better to make  believe. Lastly, I have always liked “Trust Me”, since people only ask you  this when you already don’t. What could possibly go wrong by blindly trusting the wrong person? Nothing I could think of. So these are my musings for this month. I know you are probably thinking what happened to the restaurant reviews? Well, it wouldn’t hurt you to stop thinking about food for a few minutes, you know. Which reminds me. I  am starting to get a little hungry. Pancakes would be good. But actually pancakes are always good. Or maybe French Toast .I do have a little challah left over, but it may be a little stale, not that it matters because you are soaking it in egg. Decisions, decisions. Anyway that's all I’ve got , so until the next time , be well my friends  hold on to summer as long as you can and heed you own advice, or don’t.  Harry, Over and Out.
